About Me

I like to think that in a general sense, at least so far, the opening sentence of Bertrand Russel’s autobiography applies to me as well:

“Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.”

This weblog is my first serious attempt to develop a universal online presence through writing. I believe the blog provides a great platform for the communication of ideas that is not as formal and stringent as traditional methods such as academic journals. Other than weblog posts, I will also be publishing some working papers and articles here. I’m always looking for collaborators to help me refine and develop these papers further, so If you are interested, contact me.

In these posts and papers, I plan to write about a variety of topics and issues that I have come across during my courses, research, or professional work, or have just struck me as interesting. These issues may seem quite diverse, but many of them are interrelated. Some of these issues include the evolution of our information-rich society, the intricacies of human thought and behavior, the workings of organizations, business and economies, and the understanding, management, economics, and technology of information, knowledge, attention, and trust.

I like to venture into any area of knowledge that helps me gain insight on the issues on my mind. That is why I frequently step into disciplines that I conventionally shouldn’t be spending time on (i.e. are not directly related to the courses I’m taking or the job I’m doing). This interdisciplinary nature of my search for knowledge is exemplified in my work on Attention Economics.

As for the formalities, I’m currently finishing up a Master’s degree in entrepreneurship at the University of Tehran, Iran after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the same university. So far, I have always managed to find the time to work alongside my education and my job experience has mostly been in the management consulting and software industries, mostly in the area of knowledge management.

I have been admitted into the Strategic Management Ph.D. program at the Schulich School of Business, York University in Canada and if everything goes right, I will be heading off to Toronto for this September.

Dear Mohammad,
It’s good to see so much effort you are making on the matter of management on the net. As long as I have searched through the net there are few research work about Iranian culture in management and business.
I am an Iranian MBA student in Belgium. I wanted to ask if you have cited any paper on “Negotiation Culture in Iran”. If so, I would appreciate a lot to know about it.
Thanks
Reza

Why is it that everyone who studies in Iran wants to go abroad?
